Breaking reports from Overdrive and CCJ have uncovered an ongoing investigation into the authority of freight hauler Santa, Inc., run by single owner-operator Kris Kringle. This revocation occurred mere hours before Kringle began his seasonal worldwide delivery of consumer merchandise to children who qualified for entry in his “good” list.

Kringle’s alleged violations include extreme negligence of current hours-of-service regulations, such as failure to take 30-minute breaks over the course of the last millennium and too much time spent on-duty without driving. Kringle has also, apparently, not taken the required 34-hour restarts and does not reach the 168-hour threshold for a restart due to the time difference in his region of residence.
The investigation further accuses Kringle of being medically unfit to operate, citing a body mass index above 35, high blood pressure, and a potential sleep disorder. His medical card was also revoked, making Kringle fully ineligible to continue operations on US highways.
FMCSA has enlisted the help of the regulatory agencies for other freight methods, including the FAA, which will work with the state of Maryland to halt any aerial operations once he enters American airspace. California, meanwhile, is set to issue fines for the use of reindeer who do not meet that state’s stringent environmental regulations.
In an interesting twist, stories surrounding this investigation note the registration of a new carrier, Claus LLC, in the FMCSA Register. Regulators will be unable to investigate this possible duplicate company in time to prevent a Christmas delivery.
